We make your heirloom like
we would for someone we love!

Quality Matters!

We love the fact that heirlooms are repurposing  and up-cycling materials that mean so much to you. To ensure they hold up, we reinforce most fabrics before working them into your heirloom. When adding new fabrics to the mix we stick to cotton, wool, linen and silk because they are natural fibers and we like their feel and look. Most sewing, including quilting, is done by machine unless hand sewing or embroidery would do the job better.

Story Starter booklet that comes with each item
Story Starter Booklet
Each Heirloom has a pocket to hold its Story Starter Booklet. This customized booklet has a description of each item in the heirloom or describes the memory behind the piece.

Stuffing

Stuffing:
Unless you would prefer wool, we use polyester fiberfill.  It is:
  • soft and fluffy
  • available locally
  • made from recycled bottles

5 spools of thread

Thread

Polyester Thread:
We use high quality polyester thread to sew and embroider most heirlooms because it is strong and long-lasting.
Cotton Thread:
For a quilt, we never use thread that is stronger than the fabric. A well-used quilt will need to be repaired somewhere down the line, and cotton thread won't cut through your sentimental fabrics.*

Batting

By definition, a quilt is made up of three layers sewn together; top, middle and bottom. The middle layer is batting and is what gives a quilt that cozy feel. We use:
Warm & Natural Batting
  • Produces a really nice quilt with no stretching or pilling
  • American grown cotton made in the USA
  •  No harsh chemicals are used

"There are many people who can make patchwork pillows or blankets out of old shirts and jackets. What Jean does is something far deeper. She is able to listen to the stories about a person, and then translate the core of who that person is into a comforting and meaningful physical artifact for their family to hold onto. Jean creates time capsules and paints portraits through her work, and she is a storyteller in her own right."      ~Maddie
